What is Cloud Computing?
Computing which is based over internet is known as "Cloud Computing", often this term is get confused with grid computing, because grid computing is also involves the use of several computers to a single problem at one point of time. So, many people thinks both are same.
Basically, Cloud Computing is a internet based development environment which incorporates Software as Service (SaaS pronounced as "sass"), Web 2.0 and other recent well known technologies which relies on internet.

Why it is known as Cloud?
Infact cloud term is an allegory of internet which depicts network of computers, and this computing is having base of the internet.

Key characteristics of Cloud Computing
1. Cost Effective Solution - Since cloud computing is based on internet so infrastructure is owned by the provider and does not need to be purchased for one-time or infrequent intensive computing tasks.
2. Independent to Location - The most lucrative feature of cloud computing is that it allows the user freedom of their location and device (i.e., PC, Mobile etc.).
3. Scalability - Cloud computing allows to meet the rapid changing user demands without users having engineer for peak load.
4. Security - Since this computing is dependent over the internet, and data is available at central location so security is better then any traditional system.
